I heard on the radio today that The Lego Movie was #1 at the box office for the third week in a row with a box office take of about $31 million this past weekend. According to http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=lego.htm, as of yesterday (February 26), The Lego Movie has taken in a jaw-dropping $187,000,000+ in the U.S, plus another $92,500,000 internationally, for a grand total of almost $280,000,000. WOW – EVERYTHING IS AWESOME! I wonder what percentage Lego gets from the movie?
Also, I was in San Diego this past weekend and was able to get up to Legoland California where they had the actual Basement movie set from The Lego Movie on display. I’ve uploaded some pictures of it in my Flickr stream here – http://www.flickr.com/photos/41914153@N03/. This included all of the dioramas that are only shown for a few moments (in addition to the main “Town”). The neatest thing was the Galaxy Explorer hanging in the Space diorama (although the thought that it is put together with kragle makes me very sad).
