Our outdoor spaces are under construction, so we would have you guys set up in an indoor space – a return to glow-in-the-dark Legos? Maybe the room off of the Byham Theater again, or maybe in the Arts Education Building.
The event this year starts at 7pm. Could we plan on having your organization from 7pm-11pm? Participation [payment] of $350.
There’s a possibility that I may have a conflict this year. Is anyone willing and able to do this?
September 15, 2025 at 11:05 pm #66019I will unfortunately have to work, But I think this is something we should make every effort possible to doing. Great exposure for us and the payment helps sweeten the pot for the LUG
September 23, 2025 at 7:50 am #66080Bump. I need to let Heather know by the end of the month if we can do it.
September 25, 2025 at 2:07 pm #66113Final bump on this. I have to let her know by Tuesday.
If no one is interested, that’s okay. This will just be a loss of revenue and partnership for the LUG.

I hope all is well, we’re excited to have your participation at First Night this year!
I am reaching out to inform you that the activity location for Steel City LUG has been moved from the Byham Theater to the Benedum Lot (641 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222).
Due to construction taking place within the cultural district ahead of the opening of Arts Landing, the decision has been made to implement a smaller footprint for First Night, and the Byham Theater will be completely offline for the duration of the evening.
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnerships is utilizing the Benedum Lot for their Holiday Market and will be leaving the tent up through the New Year’s for Cultural Trust usage. Since Fifth Avenue Place is at capacity, we’ve decided to transition the lego activity into the Benedum Lot from 7-11PM.
Although the location space will be different than previous years, please note that the tent is carpeted, heated, and will be in a central location within the First Night footprint. There will be signage to let people know where your activity will be.
Feel free to bring signs/posters to promote anything upcoming in your organization as well to get the word out.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Best,
Breannelooking for ideas of what to do. Anyone interested in doing a live build of the year again?
@lgbrickbuilder – let me know after you’ve had a think about what we can do.
November 24, 2025 at 12:52 pm #67076Cultural trust asked for a floor plan…I just told them 4 tables, a few chairs, maybe 20’x10’…so, whatever we do should fit into that foot print…
November 24, 2025 at 5:13 pm #67081I can send some stuff but I can’t attend unfortunatly.
December 4, 2025 at 5:31 pm #67172“if the young ones aren’t tired out from the LEGO building zone”

I’ll post a parking pass and instructions when I get to a computer later today. Sounds like we have a few people coming to help, so I’d like to try the live build of 2026, bring the plates that Krista put together with build challenges, and maybe we can also suggest they try to build their own 2026 and put it on a table to display.
December 26, 2025 at 12:35 pm #67424… later today.
I sit on a throne of lies, apparently.

– setup is at 6 and vehicles cannot enter for load out until after midnight
– the pass is not for parking, it is for load-in
– validation stickers will be given to vendors for parking at the Theatre Square Garage
Yes?
December 28, 2025 at 10:39 pm #67431what amount of stuff will need loaded/unloaded? I am covering at work so ill be on call till 1700 (normally id disappear closer to 1400)
December 30, 2025 at 8:03 am #67433In the message from Jackie Honkus, there is this list:
“Equipment: (6) 8-foot tables, (6) 8-foot table linens, (4) chairs”Which at first glance seems like they are supplying these things, but later in the same message … “Please plan to bring all supplies you will need, including equipment such as tables, chairs, lighting and signage.” So … ???
The trustarts.org site says “Join Steel City LUG in a hands-on LEGO activity! Plus get inspired by a special LEGO creation on display.”
So we need containers of play brick for both the free build and LIVE build. MOC’s would also be welcome.
December 30, 2025 at 10:23 pm #67434Just saw we got a weather advisory for tomorrow night with guaranteed snow, 1-3 in
I’m not phased at all but i also have a millennial lust for death sooo….

If anyone looks back on this a year from now, the Cultural Trust DID supply the tables, stanchions, etc. despite the instructions in their email.
– the pass is not for parking, it is for load-in
– validation stickers will be given to vendors for parking at the Theatre Square Garagethe parking pass IS for parking, in fact one cannot even go into the Theatre Square garage without the pass and YES the Cultural Trust provides validation stickers to put on parking tickets, but only for parking at the Theatre Square garage

I’ll get more pics to the gallery later today when I work on site updates.
