great texture with all those tiles not pressed all the way down
You’ve zeroed in on the main reason I wanted to build a barn, having a surplus of 1×8 red tiles. Of course, I found that most real barns are DARK red. People aren’t positive why this became the standard color, but the farmer’s almanac website suggested that originally the pigment came from iron oxides (rust) and served as a deterrent to rotting the wood. Gradually it became less about practicality and more about tradition.

The current stone aesthetic among Castle builders is to use lots of snot to give depth to the walls. 1×1 plates, 1×1 rounds, and 1×1 tiles all work well to create depth.
I also really like your barn. The stonework and the offset tiles give it a very real feel. Dark red would look awesome.

I am using a different camera than usual and apparently the original photos on the new camera are 8M and the site accepts something like 300k.

A bunch of those photos were from Brickfair in Virginia a few years ago, but most were not my creations, just photos that I took.
The winter stuff is absolutely amazing. Maybe I will have to try and make it to Brickfair too this year!

For now we build cars in the Speed Champion format or others. Our latest was a 2008 Mustang GTCS like one I used to own. Sigh….I miss her!

It did not, but I cleverly made it completely from fire-resistant materials (or maybe that was just a coincidence). We’ll see what happens if I ever have to renovate it.
OMG! You were in Paris at the time? My wife and I were there 5 years ago, and I feel lucky that we had a chance to see it.
I am just getting into building my own MOC’s and this is my tiny little neighborhood that I built. I am horrible with roofs. I bought two books to learn more. Any tips are welcome!
