I must be missing something, where did Greg get 144 from?

Well thanks for clearing that up. The important thing to note is, I won’t be getting that part, I thought I could get a Lackey or two out of it, but it’s not gonna happen. And I’m glad I posted it when I did instead of relentlessly searching BL for it in a futile refusal to let the piece beat me. (I checked about five categories before I gave up.) And thanks to Tim, now I need to watch Ant-Man again. Fortunately I get Duh-plus for free.

I so just read this in Luis’ voice (Michael Pena from “Ant Man”). Again, top quality entertainment here.

        samesies.

Also for the math joke, which Ben apparently still doesn’t get…?

I don’t know which is more funny, the math joke or that Tim got it.

Yeah, I was taking a little bit of pride in the fact that I didn’t get it. The Dozenal Society of America sounds like a group going in the wrong direction.

tagging @timf; this is pretty cool … of course you need space to unfold the entire thing

Yes, I looked at it. Not really sure how much actual Lego it could hold. Would be really good where space is at a premium. Drop down the build tables and then store everything away when not in use.

Oh sorry, I was not taking about filling it with LEGO, I was talking about filling it with the items in the attached photos, which I saw at Gabe’s (in McIntyre Square, just North of the Ross Park Mall).

I love how in the main picture, there is a sign stating “Please Do Not Climb on the Models” as the picture shows a young girl climbing up onto the dragon model.

had a friend go up to legoland NY and take these pics for me. When we were there, I saw this corn cob piece and just thought I was disconnected from the new parts over the years, assuming this part existed…but it does not!

I’m thinking though that GBJ modules will work better if they mate up directly, using Technic holes and pins, similar to how Moonbase is done.

What ever happened to Moonbase? I remember back at BFVA when it was at George Mason Law School (circa 2002) they had a HUGE Moonbase collaborative display. It took up most of a decent sized classroom. Never real saw or heard much about it after the mid-2000’s.

I came across this – https://www.flickr.com/photos/bumcrush/albums/72157624888198989 – which is a pretty good summary of information. I always thought that Moonbase would be a neat collaborative for a show, especially among our Space-folk.

Thank you, Greg. I thought there was a pretty impressive Blacktron themed section so I am glad you were able to post that picture. I would love to move back into some Space themed builds and Moonbase has always intrigued me. Perhaps that could be a Q2 build challenge?

Also, as much as I enjoy the Dulles Expo Center, I really liked the intimacy of the George Mason Law School building. It was really neat to venture from room to room and see what new things were there. Perhaps some of the excitement was the fact that fan conventions were still so new.

I decided Moonbase is worthy of its own discussion thread, so I created a forum topic and put a few links in the first post.

I was gonna post the link here, but the topic hasn’t appeared yet, it is ‘pending moderation’, which presumably was created because we’ve been spammed a bunch of times over the years. Once it shows up, I’ll have plenty of follow-up thoughts, and some links to photos that I can post.

You have no idea how geeked we Spacers could get with the ideas to pass aroundand really help out. And since Space is SO wide open, I bet you even money that EVERY builder has something that could be made Spacey right now, and be able to build a Moonbase tower to connect via the standard to others.

A quarterly build challenge where the builds are designed on a standard to connect isn’t something we’ve done, I don’t think. It’s also true that a quarterly build challenge opens the floodgates for ANYTHING Spacey. Heck, we might even see some PinkTron, a certain Star Wars character, Flash Gordon type stuff, or whackadoo things like Space Plant People, right alongside just about any Space faction LEGO ever made.

Since next summer’s Library display theme is underwater, I figures this polybag would be a fairly inexpensive way to build up a collection of divers and rays.

I bought a bunch at Joanne Fabric in Cranberry a few months ago. Seems they are out now but you can order them. Did I know the theme was underwater next Summer? Need to start thinking on that.
